No home comforts for for struggling Spalding RFC

Spalding RFC’s lengthy losing streak in Midlands One East continued on Saturday as they were crushed 72-10 by Bedford Athletic in their final home game of the season.

Josh Broome and Sam Cooke went over for tries for Town at the Memorial Field, but the visitors ran riot with 11 scores of their own.

That makes it 25 defeats from as many games for already-relegated Spalding this campaign. They sign off with an away game at second-from-bottom Belgrave next Saturday (April 18).

A report from the Bedford game will be online at www.spaldingvoice.co.uk on Monday.

Results (Saturday, April 11)

Midlands One East: Kettering 7 Syston 18; Mansfield 10 Ilkeston 49; Market Rasen & Louth 37 Huntingdon & District 17; Newark 29 Derby 30; Old Northamptonians 31 Bugbrooke 12; Paviors 41 Belgrave 31; Spalding 10 Bedford Athletic 72.
