No Holbeach United players guaranteed a shirt after disappointing start to season

Seb Hayes has told his Holbeach United players to start performing – or risk being dropped.

The Tigers chief has been frustrated by their indifferent start to the new season and feels that some of his players simply aren’t delivering at the moment.

He’s likely to ring the changes for Saturday’s visit of Cogenhoe United to Carter’s Park (3pm), but admits that he’s not pressing the panic button despite losing three of their five Future Lions UCL Premier Division games so far.

“Last season no player was a guaranteed starter. This year, I’ve been backing the lads.

“But they’re just not delivering at the moment, so it’s time to get tough.

“It’ll be an interesting two weeks. The players dropped will either work hard to win their shirt back, or leave. If they leave, I’ll know why we’ve not been doing so well as it’s not the attitude I’m looking for.

“I’m not panicking. We’ve not been trashed or blown away by anybody. We just need to shake things up.

“I know that I’m good enough to manage this team, I’ve proven that. And I also know that the squad is good enough.

“We just need to improve our attitude and game management. We play well for about 70 minutes. But in the other 20, teams are punishing us and it’s not good enough.”

Hayes has no new injury concerns for the Cogenhoe clash and has a full squad to select from against a side that did the double over Holbeach last season, winning both games 1-0.
