Nigel stars at Snooker World Championships

Spalding’s Nigel Brasier lasted longer at the World Snooker Championships than Ronnie O’Sullivan as the Motor Neurone Disease sufferer starred in his own way at The Crucible in Sheffield.

Nigel was a special guest at the sport’s showpiece event with the MND Association having been named as its official charity for its Disability Day.

The 49-year-old father of three has raised over £12,000 for the charity since his diagnosis with the condition in 2015.

His visit to The Crucible saw him play a few balls against 2005 World Champion Shaun Murphy as well as meeting former pros Nigel Bond and John Parrott.

There was also a behind the scenes tour of the championships.

Nigel describes his time there as “amazing”.

“The best part for me was playing in the cuezone against each other, the public and we got to play Shaun Murphy.

“Also the behind the scenes tour was fantastic, we got to see how it all works and got to see Jack Lisowski and Shaun Murphy in the practice room.

“I also got to meet Jamie Cahill who beat Ronnie O’Sullivan. He was buzzing!”

Nigel is also looking for sponsorship as he is hoping to compete at the World Disability Snooker Championships which is being held in Belgium.

He is looking to raise at least £1,200 to fund his entry into the tournament.
