Nick’s marathon guide dog effort

A Spalding man who turns 50 years old next month is marking the occasion with a big American run to raise money for a guide dog charity.

Nick Pearson got the idea to run for Guide Dogs for the Blind from his father, Dennis, who is blind.

Dennis is a regular in Spalding with his guide dog, Ozzie.

By running the New York Marathon on November 3, Nick hopes to be able to raise £2,500, which will let him name a guide dog puppy – with the frontrunner names at the moment being Brooklyn, Stella or Yorkie.

Nick has given himself two years to raise the money and can be sponsored here: http://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/nick-pearson6

As well as running the marathon, Nick is involved with the local branch of Guide Dogs for the Blind fundraising efforts.

Volunteer Fundraiser Elizabeth Roberts said: “Collections are also taking place in various shops/offices over the next few months where you can come and give a cash donation.

“If you can help us reach our target by making a donation, allowing us to do a collection in your shop/office or by doing your own event to raise money please feel free to email us on [email protected].

“We would love to hear from you.”
