Nice and three-sy for on-song Spalding United against Histon as momentum gathers

Spalding United 3 Histon 0

In-form Spalding United warmed up for Saturday’s Emirates FA Cup clash at Tividale with an imperious 3-0 victory over Histon on Bank Holiday Monday.

The Tulips bossed a one-sided Pitching In NPL Midlands Division contest from start to finish at the Sir Halley Stewart Playing Field, with goals from Lyes Mezine (20), Stefan Broccoli (74) and the returning Marcus Maddison (80).

That made it six points in three days for Gaby Zakuani’s side after their 2-1 triumph at Corby Town, moving them up to seventh in the early standings.

The Spalding supremo was very happy with what he saw from his side and is now looking forward to getting on the road in the FA Cup.

He said: “Fantastic Bank Holiday for us, two wins and building momentum very nicely. I love a clean sheet!

“Good luck to Histon for the rest of the season, now it’s time to rest and look forward to our FA Cup tie on Saturday.

“Thank you to the fans, they were brilliant again.”

Spalding started well at the Sir Halley on Monday and took the lead when Mezine turned home from close range midway through the first half.
