Holbeach United Sunday have completed the second leg of a possible Spalding and District Sunday League treble by winning the John Chappell Shield.
The league champions, who won all 14 of their league games to clinch the title, beat Jubilee 3-0 at the Sir Halley Stewart Playing Field on Sunday to land their latest trophy.
Jonny Allen netted the opener with a thunderous header from Josh Ford’s cross, before Callum Madigan curled home number two direct from a free-kick. The scoring was complete ten minutes from time when Gary Chappell volleyed Adam Jackson’s corner into the top corner.
It was an eventful final, with Ricky Dickinson saving a Martin Sandall penalty in the first half and Holbeach’s Scott Powley sent off late on.
With Holbeach folding this summer, boss Tim Cole is gunning for his side to complete a treble.
He said: “It was a pleasing performance and I’m happy to win the John Chappell Shield – it’s one we didn’t get last year.
“I was really pleased for Gary and Callum to get on the score sheet as they have been superb for us this season. Credit to Jubilee as well. They dug in and battled hard – we wish Paul Rudkin all the best for next season as well.
“We want to go out on a high this year after the disappointment of going out in the early stages of the Lincs Cup.
“Hopefully we can complete the treble against Aintree (League KO Cup final) in a couple of weeks.”
