Newton’s the top dog as angling returns at Holbeach and District AC

Sunday saw the start of the river fishing season as 14 members of Holbeach and District Angling Club returned to action.

Despite the threat of heavy rain, some 14 anglers still attended the Cement Bridge meeting as the club returned to something like normal.

Taking first place was Chris Newton with 4lb 14oz of eels and some nice perch from peg 13 on the roadside section, all taken on worm.

Hot on his heels in second was Colin Fisher from peg five.

His net totalled 4lb 6oz, which mainly consisted of nice sized perch.

The top three was rounded off by Tom Gotobed from peg six with a still reasonable weight of 3lb 5oz.
