New taxi rank in Spalding town centre replaces another near library

A fourth taxi rank has been set up in Spalding.

Based outside Ladbrokes in Sheep Market, it has space for three vehicles and replaces a taxi rank next to the library in nearby Victoria Street.
That one has been decommissioned and converted to public parking spaces.

Malcolm Chandler, South Holland District Council’s portfolio holder for regulatory services, said: “The Victoria Street rank was rarely used due to its location so by decommissioning it, we have provided back some much-needed parking spaces for the public.”

Spalding town centre now has four taxi ranks – the others being in New Road (at the junction of Red Lion Street), in front of Spalding railway station and Spalding bus station – and evening taxi ranks outside Boots in Hall Place and outside Broadgate House in Westlode Street.
