The South Holland Singers are back after the summer break and are planning an exciting line-up of events for the 2026/27 season.
Regular rehearsals re-start on Thursday, September 10, with a programme of fun, easy to learn songs which will culminate in an informal Tea and Tunes performance just a few weeks later on Saturday, September 26.
It will be at Spalding Baptist Church from 3pm to 5.30pm.
A spokesman said: “We always welcome new members in September but this year, there’s a great opportunity, especially for those who have always wanted to join a traditional choir but perhaps don’t know where to start.
“You can come along for three sessions at no cost and then take part in the concert if you wish to.
“The music will range from ‘Mamma Mia’ and ‘Hey Jude’ to ‘Danny Boy’ and ‘Sailing’.
“It will build up to a Last Night of the Proms-style selection including ‘Jerusalem’ and ‘Land of Hope and Glory’, all accompanied by refreshments and probably some flag-waving.”
Entrance is £5 on the door.
A Christmas concert will take place on Saturday, December 12 followed by the annual choir’s Come and Sing taster day on Saturday, January 9.
Next year is a big one for the group as it will celebrate its 80th anniversary.
The spokesman continued: “We’re a friendly choir which always welcome new members. There are no auditions and you do not need to be able to read music although it’s an advantage if you can.
Rehearsals are every Thursday evening at the Baptist Church from 7.30pm to 9pm during the autumn and spring terms.
