It’s all go at Sutton Bridge’s new PlayZone.
The multi-use games area was officially opened at a recent event by parish councillor Janette Kirby-Fox who thanked former councillor Sue McLaughlin for identifying the opportunity with The Football Foundation.
Others who have helped bring the project to reality include South Holland District Council, Sutton Bridge Parish Council, Sutton Bridge Solar Farm and Grange Windfarm, which provided funding for the project.
Displays of its use were made by Sutton Bridge United FC, Long Sutton Athletic U13s and England Netball whose Louise Key is setting up a new weekly walking netball session.
PlayZone coordinator, Ali Richardson, said: “There was a fantastic turnout for the official opening of the new Sutton Bridge PlayZone (MUGA), and we would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who came along to celebrate and support this exciting new community facility.
“Once the final preparations are complete, the PlayZone will be ready for the whole community to use and enjoy, with a range of time slots available, including bookable paid slots as well as free opportunities to take part.
“In the meantime, the MUGA will remain open, giving the community the chance to come along, try out the new facility and enjoy a taste of what it has to offer.
“We hope the PlayZone will become a well-used and much-loved community facility, giving people of all ages more opportunities to get active, try something new and enjoy sport together.
“Details of available time slots and how to book will be shared on Facebook and displayed on the Parish Council noticeboard.”
