New pastor at Spalding church

The minister who founded Calvary Baptist Church in Spalding more than 30 years ago has handed over to a new pastor.

The present ministry is now under the leadership of Pastor Kevin Cowdrey.

It was June 1985 under the leadership of the Rev Glenn Palmer that the first meeting was held. It was in the Ivo Day Centre in Albion Street, with 19 people present.
Three years later, 12 saved and baptised believers organised the church with its constitution and statement of faith. Since then, there have been many baptisms and others have joined the statement of faith.

Alongside an extensive missionary programme, a strong Sunday school programme has had an average of about 30 young people for 25 years.

Mr Palmer said: “On September 10, 2010, we held our first service in the present building, which was formerly Spalding Evangelical Church.”

Many improvements have been made to the building and grounds in Carrington Road, including a new roof on the church hall, the kitchen and office replaced, plus new windows, doors, carpet and gravel car park.
