Spalding United are under new ownership.
AK Holdings owner and CEO Andrew Killingsworth is the new owner of the club with Leigh Porter installed as the new CEO, subject to clearance from the FA and Northern Premier League.
Ex-chairman Andrew Gay will remain at the club as vice chairman.
New CEO Leigh Porter commented :“We are honoured to take ownership of such an historic and significant local club and it is incredibly exciting to be part of the process of building a fresh new future for Spalding United Football Club.
“While we may be the new owners, we are custodians and are here to offer help and leadership to everyone currently involved with the club.It was obvious from where the club was and considering the current climate that the club needed some additional help, we are very pleased to be able to offer that.
“I’ve spent a lot of time recently with some amazing volunteers who have steered Spalding United through some pretty grey situations that no club or community should have to deal with.
“The fact the club isstill alive is testament to every person associated with the club and we are forever grateful for all their efforts and cannot wait to join them side by side as committed volunteers to take this club forward.
“The club is now safe and secure for the season ahead and we have a very solid base to build on and I can assure everyone that everything will be done in the right way. We cannot achieve our goals and objectives alone and without help from everyone inside and outside of the club, so this is a public plea for help, come and join us on day one of an exciting opportunity and be part of the journey.
“We will build a club that is an integral part of the local community and will have strong links with it, the initial focus will be on offering the people of Spalding and the surrounding areas some of the best local non-league football on offer, that will be closely followed by the development of the commercial, youth and ladies departments.
“If Andrew and I can be known as part of a team who took Spalding to a sustainable future at a much higher level nothing will make us happier.
“One of the requirements of our involvement was that everyone at the club remains in their current positions and I am already working with the first team manager and those who work off the pitch to put a plan together for the new season with new objectives, I look forward to updating everyone on all aspects of that very soon. We are an open and honest family club and we want as many people to enjoy the journey with us.”
