New memorial is birthday gift for Village Hall

A special birthday party in Saracen’s Head provided double the opportunity to remember the village’s past.

Saturday’s party took place to mark the 40th anniversary of the Village Hall and it doubled as the official unveiling of a new plaque erected to serve as the village’s war memorial.

June Taylor (centre) with members of the original committee founded to create Saracen’s Head Village Hall 40 years ago.

It was designed and provided by Saracen’s Head’s Best Kept Village group.

Over 100 guests from the village’s past were invited to the event organised by June Taylor, whose mum Peg was one of the committee founded to organise the transformation of the former school into the well-loved hall.

She and members of the committee from 40 years ago cut the cake at the celebrations.

One of the organisers, Pam Langstaff, said: “The whole event went extremely well.”
