Player/boss Ian Dunn was happy enough with his Pinchbeck side after seeing them emerge victorious from their pre-season opener on Saturday.
Goals from Aaron Cooper and a trialist sunk the Boston and District League outfit, with Dunn’s new-look line-up unfortunate not to add to their tally.
Having won the Peterborough League and Cup double in his first stint at Knight Street, hopes are high that Pinchbeck will be back among the top sides in the league this season.
But Dunn, who played 90 minutes in central defence, is calling for calm.
“I thought we were OK,” said the former Boston Town chief. “It wasn’t very spectacular, but we’ve given ourselves a platform to build upon.
“We’ve got a lot of new faces here and it’s going to take time to gel things together. Saying that, we created a lot and probably should have scored a few more.
“I’m working on bringing a few more players to the club, but it’s going to be an ongoing process for us.
“I doubt the team will be finalised by the start of the season and we’ll probably evolve game by game.
“I think it’ll be tough for us early on, but I could be wrong.”
Pinchbeck host Swineshead tonight (6.30pm) and Wisbech Town Reserves on Friday (6.15pm).
