New Lions group hunts fresh blood

A new Lions club has launched for the Crowland and Holbeach area.

Trinity Lions Club is the latest branch of the worldwide charity.
There used to be a Crowland and East Elloe Lions Club some years ago but now a new group has been specifically set up.
A spokesman for the group, said: “We are part of Lions Clubs International, with 1.4million members worldwide in over 210 countries.
“Our motto is ‘We Serve’. We are ordinary people doing extraordinary things to help those in need locally and nationally.
“We raise funds to help those in need and raise awareness of issue such as vision, environment, diabetes, cancer, hunger, youth and humanitarian issues national and internationally.”
The group’s first public event was a stall at Welcome Break services on Sunday, August 20 where it donated proceeds to Macmillan and the Tulip Suite at Johnson Community Hospital and gave out the Lions Message In A Bottle.
Six experienced Lions transferred from local clubs to set up Trinity.
“We are looking for new members, of any age above 18, gender or ability, we can all do something useful,” the spokesman continued. “You give what time you can spare to Lions, it all counts!
“We meet on Zoom the last Thursday in the month and have one social meeting somewhere different each month.
“We aim to have fun, as well as serve! Volunteer and get involved.”
