New heads of town’s pride

Spalding Lions have anointed their new leaders for the year.

Julie Grant is to be the president for the 25/26 year with Eileen Robson as her vice president.

Julie takes on the role previously held by Stuart East and the pair were presented with their chains at a recent barbecue held at Eileen and husband Peter’s home.

A spokesman for Spalding Lions said: “Stuart East has led the club admirably and with great passion for the last two years with Julie alongside him as second vice president.

Julie also thanked Stuart and expressed her wish for the club to continue going forward, serving the local community as it has done since 1971.

“I joined Spalding Lions in 2021 to help the local community and also to make new friends having been widowed,” she said. “I had no aspirations of becoming president at the time, but I’m proud that my fellow club members have elected me into the role, and I will strive to work together with my fellow Lions as one ‘Pride’.

“Like all clubs we have to have officers, but I am all about team work and we are a good team at Spalding Lions, with friendship being one of our values.”
