To many Moulton Windmill is already a work of art, but an artist has been commissioned to create new pieces inspired by it.
Heritage Lincolnshire has asked Graham Elstone to create accessible and inclusive site-specific artworks for the historic mill.
It is to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the organising of Heritage Open Days.
The artworks will officially be unveiled at the Heritage Open Day weekends in September.
Arts collective artsNK is overseeing the project which is being funded by Lincolnshire County Council.
A statement from artsNK said: “The theme of this year’s festival is ‘Picturing the Past’, and the artists will take their inspiration from each mill’s past use and the collections they hold.
“The artworks will be designed to be accessible and inclusive, in particular for those with sensory or cognitive impairment.
“Both artists will work with staff and volunteers at the mills, as well as consulting with local groups with sensory or cognitive impairment to develop their artworks.”
Graham Elstone added: “Its going to be very interesting to create an artwork for this great heritage site.
“I’m looking forward to working at and with Moulton Mill and its groups, finding out about its past, present and future and creating an interactive new technology artwork that reflects these.”
Sarah Grundy from the Places Team, Lincolnshire County Council added: ”We are very excited to be working with artsNK and the chosen artists on this project.
“It’s a great chance to involve communities in learning about and appreciating their local heritage sites in new and interesting ways through the arts.
“We are looking forward to working with as many people as possible, and breaking down any barriers that they might have to enjoying heritage and the arts during this 25th anniversary year of Heritage Open Days.”
