Spalding’s Tim Barzycki is celebrating after winning the Plate final at a national golf croquet competition at Wrest Park in Bedfordshire.
Barzycki started playing croquet at Pinchbeck during the COVID pandemic and has played in a few small local competitions, but this was his first on the national programme.
Despite losing his first three games in closely fought contests he went into the knockout stages unbeaten.
Croquet is largely played in two formats and tournaments are held throughout the country with entries based on a player’s handicap for both the Association format and golf croquet.
Both games are played at Pinchbeck with successful teams.
The golf croquet team has entered the East Anglian Federation league for the first time this season.
A croquet coaching course is due to held next month and is currently full, however if there is sufficient interest another one can be put on later in the year.
Please contact Barzycki on 07522 616695 or [email protected] if you are interested in attending a coaching course.
