The Spalding branch of Marks and Spencer is to close in May.
Staff at the Holland Market Simply Food store were told today (Thursday) that its doors would close for the final time on May 1.
The store was originally set for closure last April, but was kept open following the COVID-19 outbreak.
However at the time M&S said it would still look to close the store “when the time is right”.
Lee Boon, M&S regional manager, said: “Today we have updated colleagues in M&S Spalding that the store will close permanently on May 1.
“We delayed the closure last year so that the local community could access their food essentials during the national lockdowns, and we are very grateful to our colleagues for their incredible hard work during this time.
“Shopping habits are changing, so we’re reshaping our store estate so it is fit for the future and closing the Spalding store is a difficult but necessary part of these changes.
“We remain committed to our customers in the local area and will continue to serve them from marksandspencer.com and other stores in the area, including Bourne Foodhall, where customers can also pick up Clothing and Home products in store via Click & Collect.”
