MP Hayes awarded honorary fellowship for further education work

South Holland and the Deepings MP John Hayes has been awarded an honorary fellowship by the Royal Chartered Institute For Further Education.

In a ceremony at Apothecaries Hall in London, chairman of the institution, the Rt Hon The Lord Lingfield, described it as “an historic occasion” and praised Mr Hayes for his “outstanding work championing vocational training and raising the status of further education”.

Mr Hayes said: “I am greatly honoured by the fellowship that the Institute of Further Education has bestowed upon me, and delighted to be the first ever person to be made a fellow by the institute.
“When I was the Skills Minister I was determined to elevate the profile and standing of vocational, technical and practical learning, that which is so vital to our nation’s future.”

The Institution for Further Education was granted Chartered status in 2015, and its mission is to develop the potential, reputation and standing of the further education sector by bringing together the best training providers to collectively promote, recognise and celebrate their professionalism and success.
