Casting is under way to find future stars of the big screen for the first ever feature-length action thriller to come out of South Holland.
Newly-formed Holbeach Film Company hopes cameras will roll within just a couple of months, with all the action of its first film Dishonoured being shot around Holbeach, Spalding, Long Sutton, Boston and Peterborough.
The idea is the brainchild of Holbeach born and bred Steph Genovese, a part-time mobile DJ, who is set to appear on TV tonight in Sky Atlantic’s hit series Fortitude – one of six episodes he appears in.
He will also appear in a soon-to-be-screened BBC pilot series The Organiser.
Steph (42) will take one of the four main roles in Dishonoured, as well as writing the script and directing the film, which could premiere in South Holland by the end of the year.
He will then lead the editing and special effects, with the chance for local people to “have a go” at creating the finished movie.
Steph then hopes the film will be available to buy on DVD and to download on film-streaming services such as Netflix.
He said: “I spend a lot of my time as an actor travelling to and from London or Manchester for auditions and filming and it can be really expensive and difficult.
“I want to bring a piece of Hollywood to my own home town to give local talent the chance to get involved.
“I know there is a lot of people with a great deal of talent, so I want to use this film to unearth some amazing local cast and crew, give them the opportunity to learn their craft and be in something special that has not ever been attempted around here before.”
Steph has already lined up local songstress Meg McPartlin to write and perform the film’s big soundtrack song, while other bands also have the opportunity to have their music included.
He has also started casting calls on Dishonoured’s Facebook page and more than 370 people have already contacted Steph to express an interest.
The hi-tech equipment needed to make a professional “Hollywood-style” film is already in place and Steph has his eye on a number of locations locally, including a mansion and a cafe.
He now hopes to find a suitable pub and shop to add to the filming locations.
Help is also needed with props and costumes for the no-budget film.
