After years of waiting, Moulton Park looks set to be officially opened up to the public this spring.
That’s after a charity officially took ownership of the 20-acre site from South Holland District Council.
The John and Maureen Biggadike Foundation was set up following the death of the aforementioned John, the last miller of Moulton Windmill, to help good causes in the village.
Now it’s set to open the site up to the public after years of wranglings.
“With its established trees and diverse wildlife, the park will provide a tranquil space for walking, relaxation, and exercise while fostering a stronger sense of community,” a spokesman for the charity said. “In addition, a new children’s play area, provided by Moulton Parish Council, will give local families a much-needed outdoor space to enjoy.”
The foundation says a new charity is to be set up dedicated to the park’s upkeep.
A public meeting will be held soon, inviting Moulton residents to share their ideas and priorities for how the park should be used and managed,” the spokesman continued. “Although some planning conditions must still be fulfilled, it is anticipated that Moulton Park will officially open in late spring, welcoming visitors to this newly secured community space.”
Trustee Steven Adcock said: “The trustees are delighted that, at long last, Moulton Park is now owned by the charity and can finally be used by the residents of the village.
“This will provide vital open space, and the addition of a play area for local children is long overdue.”
