Ben Wilson immediately set his sights on the next round of the British Superbike championship after netting just a single point at one of his favourite tracks.

The Kirton rider has suffered ongoing problems with the Gearlink Kawasaki Superbike which is still in the early stages of development.
And at Snetterton over the weekend he crashed out of the first race and finished the second in 15th place.

Wilson said: “I am a bit disappointed with the results but on a positive note we are making steps in the right direction with the development of the bike and I am looking forward to Knockhill where I usually go well.”

Wilson made it through to the second stage of qualifying for Sunday’s first race and was awarded a place on the sixth row of the grid in 17th place. But after making his usual fast start, his race was over at the second corner on the opening lap when he was pushed wide as another rider tried to pass him on the inside.

This resulted in Wilson colliding with Michael Rutter and the pair tumbled out of the race at Palmers.

Wilson said: “It was just a racing incident and it was unfortunate that I was pushed offline and into Michael.”

Wilson was on the last row for the start of race two later in the day and began the race from 25th position.
Again he got away to a speedy start and was up to 17th by the end of the first lap. He made further progress up to 14th on lap four but then began to lose touch with the leading group and crossed the finish line in 15th place.

The one championship point brings his total to 21 and places him 13th in the rider standings.
The next round at Knockhill in Scotland is on June 29. The venue is one of Wilson’s favourite circuits and he will be seeking two good results.
