Hubs aimed at helping victims of domestic abuse are proving so successful that a fifth has opened in South Lincolnshire
The new Long Sutton Rural Community hub will join sessions in Sutton Bridge, Spalding, Holbeach and Boston put on by charity SoLDAS (South Lincolnshire Domestic Abuse Service).
The idea behind the project is to allow people worried about the relationship they’re in to speak to people and get support and advice.
A SoLDAS spokesman said: “Thanks to grant funding by the Lincolnshire Mental Health and Wellbeing Community Investment Fund, SoLDAS sees the start of a fifth Rural Community Hub offering support to victims of domestic abuse in the Long Sutton area.
“The funding has also enabled us to continue the delivery, of our four other successful Rural Community Hubs throughout the South of Lincolnshire.
“Every Thursday, specialist experienced domestic abuse workers from SoLDAS will be available to meet and support local victims of domestic abuse – males and females, in the Long Sutton Area.
“In this informal setting, people can sit over a cup of coffee and discuss privately their experiences and concerns with a professional who understands and can help victims to safety plan and if they are ready, to end the abuse they and their children are experiencing.
“The funding will enable us to support victims in an area which has a proven need and very little access to support services.
“We would like to say a huge thank you to Shine Lincolnshire, Lincolnshire County Council, NHS Lincolnshire ICB, Lincolnshire Partnership Foundation Trust and the Lincolnshire Community Mental Health and Well-being Transformation Programme, for giving us the opportunity to continue this amazing, life changing project.”
The Long Sutton hub will run from 12pm to 2pm.
Elsewhere in South Holland, the hub in Spalding is Tuesday, 10am to 2pm, it’s Thursday, 10am to 2pm in Holbeach and Thursdays, 10am to 12pm in Sutton Bridge.
“We can offer free support for victims of domestic abuse in Boston, Holbeach, Spalding and the surrounding villages,” the spokesman continued.
