More changes to tips

Cars with trailers and more waste types will be able to be dropped off at Lincolnshire tips from Monday.

All 11 of Lincolnshire County Council’s Household Waste Recycling Centres, including Spalding, will now open five days a week from Friday to Tuesday.

Small trailers (6ft x 4ft x1.5ft load depth) without greedy boards will be allowed on site on a Monday and Friday.

On a Sunday and Monday, residents can bring black bagged (general waste), plastics, plasterboard, mattresses, scrap metal, waste electricals (e.g. washing machines, TVs, lightbulbs etc.), batteries, household chemicals, mineral and cooking oils, gas cylinders and clothing.

On a Monday, residents can also bring along bulky items e.g. carpets and sofas.

On a Tuesday, Friday and Saturday, HWRCs will accept garden waste (Green), paper and cardboard, glass, wood, soil, hardcore, scrap metals, waste electricals (e.g. washing machines, TVs, lightbulbs etc.), batteries, household chemicals, mineral and cooking oils and gas cylinders and clothing.

Coun Eddie Poll, executive member for waste at Lincolnshire County Council, comments: “We’d like to thank the public for being so understanding as we’ve reopened this much needed service. Since opening, we’ve had over 50,000 bookings and have been overwhelmed by the positivity and kindness of our residents.

“That said, we know people have been wanting to bring bulky items and use their trailers – so we’re delighted that from July 6 they will be able to on a Tuesday and Friday.

“We will continue to use our new booking system as it allows us to safely manage vehicles on site, and enables us to keep to the social distancing guidelines for both the public and our staff.

“We’d ask residents when making a booking, please just double check you select the right day for the right waste type.”
