Mix-up sees Holbeach United demoted to sixth spot in UCL

An unfortunate administrative mix-up has seen Holbeach United lose two places in the final ChromaSport UCL Premier Division standings.

Having finished fourth in the table, Holbeach have been hit with a retrospective three-point penalty for fielding an ineligible player in the 2-0 win against Eynesbury Rovers way back on November 29, 2014.

The problem was that Jamie Clarke arrived at Holbeach with a yellow card to his name, something neither the Tigers or Lincs FA were aware of. That meant when he accumulated enough bookings for a suspension, nobody at the club was aware.

Clarke served a suspension weeks later, but those dates were deemed too late.

The punishment sees the Tigers drop to a sixth-place finish, with both Yaxley and Cogenhoe gaining a place.

Meanwhile, midfielder Danny Steadman has agreed to re-sign for Holbeach for next season.
