Mission accomplished for former Royal Marine’s charity push

A Holbeach gym owner has raised almost £1,000 for RBL and Royal Marines Charity by completing a Centenery Challenge that took almost 10 hours of gruelling physical pain.

Former Royal Marine Sam started at 6am on Friday and for the next nine hours and 54 minutes, people dropped in to donate and cheer him on as he attempted to run a total of 100km and complete hundreds of strength challenges.

“The level of support I received on the day was amazing,” Sam said. He inured his ankle at the 62nd km and had to finish on a bike.

“I never expected so many people to come in and cheer me on and again it really helped push me through some pretty miserable and painful times,” Sam added.

Posting on Instagram (@royalsgym) after the event, Sam thanked his supporters and reiterated his respect for those in the services and their families: “A thankless task and one we should never take for granted.”
