Mission accomplished for Bakkavor Boys as they complete Longest Day Challenge

Four South Holland golfers have raised more than £5,000 after completing the Longest Day Golf Challenge.

The Bakkavor Boys – Dan Mayfield, Lloyd Spicer, Matthew Cole and Matthew Pilgrim – played four rounds at Spalding Golf Club last Thursday in a bid to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.

They’ve so far made more than £2,500, but Bakkavor have pledged to match whatever they raise.

Mayfield said: “Thanks to everyone who sponsored the four of us on our Macmillan Longest Day Golf Challenge.

“With Bakkavor matching what we raise, we should be easily over £5k for this very worthy charity.”

A Bakkavor spokesman said: “Congratulations to The Bakkavor Boys. The boys teed off their first round at 3.55am and ended their fourth and final round at 7.40pm. In between, they walked 47,000 steps/24 miles each, changed clothes four times, hit over 1,000 shots and made an impressive 12 birdies.”
