Ben Wilson’s nightmare season continued at the weekend as he was pulled out of the two MCE British Superbike races at Oulton Park.

After spending time in and out of the pits during free practice in an effort to find a good set-up for the Gearlink Kawasaki machine, Wilson went out in qualifying but was only able to post a fast enough time to be placed 26th on the grid for the start of race one.

After a lot of discussion with team owner and manager Michael de Bidaph, it was decided that the best way forward was to withdraw from the races and concentrate on investigating where the problem lies

De Bidaph said: “This decision has nothing to do with Ben’s ability as a rider and we have every faith in him. We just need to get the machinery right and we will be on the pace.”

Having suffered a similar fate at Thruxton a week earlier, Wilson was understandably downbeat.

He added: “The team are not happy with where they are with the Superbike as we have encountered some major problems over the last few races and we have decided to withdraw to enable us all to move forward together.”

Wilson hopes to be competitive again by the next round at Cadwell Park (August 23-25).
