Events to mark the 70th anniversary of the D-Day landings continue with a military-themed family event at the Anglia Motel, Fleet.
A host of military and vintage vehicles will be on display at the motel on Saturday, when everyone is welcome to go along – free of charge – and come face to face with a piece of the past which has been so poignantly remembered this month.
But on Saturday evening things go a little more country and western as live music livens up the weekend – again open to everyone.
It’s back to the military and the wartime era on Sunday, when motel owner Harold Payne – a tireless supporter of veterans – will hand over £11,000 to the Royal Anglian Benevolent Fund.
Visitors will also be treated to performances by the Peterborough Pipe Band and a 1940s singer will bring the sounds of the era to the event.
There will also be a military-type helicopter dropping by on Sunday morning for people to get up close to, as well as a flypast by a Spitfire in the afternoon.
The event runs from 9am to 5pm both days. For more information, call the Anglia Motel on 01406 422766.
