Midnight reopening for town bar

A Spalding bar is looking to be the first to legally reopen its doors since the beginning of lockdown.

Imaginarium on Westlode Street has taken the unprecedented move to open its doors at just one minute into Saturday July 4, 12.01am.

Lucy Smith, assistant manager, said: “While the venue has stayed in touch with some customers, including offering a delivered cocktail service, we are most excited to see them again this coming weekend, so have taken the decision to not wait a moment longer than we need to.

“We are expecting high demand, but due to the risk assessment that we have carried out and social distancing measures introduced, only ten parties will be permitted during this first session.”

The venue is contacting regular customers offering them the chance to book on the first night.

Brad Rate, assistant manager, added: “We have taken the COVID precautions seriously, and want everyone to remain safe.

“Limiting the capacity and the numbers in each party are a major part of this, however as we previously were predominantly table service anyway, we are confident that the vibe and experience will remain unchanged.

“We are enjoying being back and looking forward to the challenges and getting re-established.”
