Microchipped collie Mo safely home after fraught five days

The owner of an adventurous pup, who went missing for five days, was so thankful that she had just had him microchipped.

Four-month-old collie cross Mo went scampering off with his mother whilst playing on the family’s smallholding.
But when Lucy (3) returned a few hours later, there was no sign of Mo, which sparked a huge hunt, on foot and on social media. Facebook posts accompanied pleas and pictures via dedicated Twitter account @FindMoPup.

Owner Isobel Miller-Keel said: “I was quite concerned because he had never been off our land before.”

Friends and family including husband Graham and children Shola (16), Zala (11) and Eddie (3) scoured fields and properties for five days before good news finally arrived last Friday, bringing tears of joy.

Isobel said: “I had a phone call from Whittlesey Vets to say that a guy had taken him in there.”

Mo had been found by a gamekeeper behind some straw bales in Parson Drove, three miles from their Throckenholt home. He was very tired and skinny but otherwise fine.
The pup had been microchipped for free at Riverside Vets in Spalding just three weeks earlier.

Relieved Isobel said: “After this, I’d recommend everyone to get their dog chipped.”
She added: “I’m really grateful to everyone that retweeted messages and helped the search. I couldn’t believe that there are so many caring people.
“We’re going to keep a very close eye on Mo now!”
