Men’s shed reap what NFU sow

Long Sutton’s Men’s Shed has been given a £7,899 boost from the NFU.

Staff at the Spalding agency nominated the charity to receive the money as part of its £2.33m Agency Giving Fund.

It is part of the NFU Mutual’s £4m funding pledge for both local and national charities in 2025, to support frontline services in rural communities.

The donation will be crucial given the increasing cost of running the charity and the increasing demand for services with 128 full members, 43 of which have joined in the last 12 months.

Frank Heinrich-Tiller, trustee and funding officer of the Long Sutton Men’s Shed, said: “We’re so grateful to the Spalding Agency of NFU Mutual for nominating our charity to receive a donation from the NFU Mutual Agency Giving Fund.

“The money will enable us to both improve the parking facilities at our base at the Silverwood Centre in Long Sutton, continue our many existing activity groups and extend further into new areas such as photography and radio.”
