Meeting on renewable energy

A meeting of groups opposing planned renewable energy infrastructure in the area was held in Weston Hills last week.

Among those in attendance were members of No Pylons Lincolnshire, set up to oppose the 87-mile overhead electricity cables being proposed as part of National Gird’s ‘Great Grid Update’, and of Meridian Action Group, opposing a solar farm near Whaplode Drove.
It was held in the village due to those proposals and several offshore wind projects, planning to utilise a proposed new sub-station at Weston Marsh.
The groups say the projects should connect offshore and be underground cables when on land.
It’s not thought National Grid were invited to attend the meeting.
The meeting was held with the first consultation on the plans for the Meridian Solar Farm due to end on July 11.
