Talented members from South Lincs Competitive Swimming Club came home with an incredible haul of 29 medals from the Rob Welbourn open meet.
The Spalding-based club sent 29 members to the Deepings Leisure Centre event – and between them they bagged five gold medals, ten silvers and 14 bronze. South Lincs swimmers also managed numerous personal best times (PB) and a host of county times too.
Leading the way was 11-year-old Amelia Fovargue, who achieved first place in her 200m back stroke and 200m freestyle events, as well as second place in the 200m breaststroke and 50m back.
Not done there, she also clinched third spot in both the 50m breaststroke and 50m freestyle.
Also impressive was 13-year-old Luke Blanchard. He claimed gold in the 200m fly, silver in the 200m freestyle, 200m breaststroke and 50m breaststroke, as well as bronze in the 200m IM and 50m fly.
Another strong performance came from 11-year-old Lucy Houghton, who won her 50m breaststroke event.
Tim Wakefield (14 years) was also a winner in the the boys’ 50m breast stroke, while also bagging bronze in the 200m breaststroke and 50m fly.
More medals came as Atticus Strickland (11 years) picked up silver in the 200m IM and bronze in the 200m breaststroke, 200m free and 50m free.
Serena Leadbeater (13 years) roared to four silvers in the 200m IM, 200m backstroke, 50m breaststroke and 50m freestyle, plus bronze in her 200m freestyle.
Meanwhile, Dusty Saines (10 years) claimed bronze in the 200m freestyle and 50m backstroke, while Olivia Harper (16 years) picked up bronze in the 200m breaststroke and 50m breaststroke.
South Lincs’ assistant coach Mandy Houghton said: “There was a great friendly atmosphere at Deeping.
“Everyone was encouraging each other, with numerous PBs and county times achieved.’’
