Shoppers in Spalding were given advice about eyesight condition macular degeneration as part of a special event.

A stall promoting Macular Society was set up at Spalding Market last week by local opticians Molsom and Associates.
The stall aimed to help raise awareness of the condition, which is the most common cause of sight loss in the UK.
Staff from Visual Aid Technologies, of Spalding, demonstrated some of their products which assist macular sufferers.

South Holland district councillor Christine Lawton, who helped set up the Spalding branch of the Macular Society, also attended.
She said: “I hope people attend the monthly meetings of the group where advice and support is available.”

The meetings are on the second Tuesday of each month at the Methodist Church in St Thomas’s Road (1.30pm-3.30pm).
Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) is a painless eye condition that generally leads to the gradual loss of central vision but can sometimes cause a rapid reduction in vision.
