Mariola’s May charity drive

A Whaplode women is raising money for the Stroke Association during the lockdown.

Mariola Pisarkiewicz is urging those she’s been running online activity classes for to donate to the cause via Facebook as well as holding an online auction and raffling off key rings.

May is the Stroke Association’s annual month of fundraising and with many events cancelled due to the current lockdown, Mariola wanted to keep raising money for the charity.

She ran two marathons last year for the same good cause in memory of Ruth Peat whom she befriended before the 92-year-old’s passing following a stroke.

This time even Mariola’s nine-year-old daughter Amberlee has been getting involved by decorating items to raffle.

Mariola said: “She wanted to paint her fairy money box which was another gift from Ruth and do a raffle again.

“We are waiting for more key rings to come and I keep going live on Facebook every day Monday till Friday to keep everyone active.”

Mariola has already raised over £400 to add to the £1,600 she raised from her runs.

She continued: “I am extremely grateful for the kind donations and I will carry on with this fundraising till end of May.”

You can donate to Mariola’s fundraiser for Stroke Association by searching for the page on Facebook.
