Marathon yoga session brings in cash

Almost 40 people bent and stretched their way through a three-hour yogathon in aid of good causes.

A pre-practice cuppa was followed by sessions with three yoga teachers.

Carole Tovell led the warm up session, followed by Nikki Balding, who upped the pace with some dynamic vinyasa postures, and Sarah Tite, who finished the marathon with some more poses before a well-earned deep relaxation session.

Students were then treated to a lunch of curry and naan bread.

The event was held in aid of Spots, which works with children through performing arts, and also offer respite to parents and carers, and food bank Agape, which supports some of the most deprived people in our local community.

The fundraiser exceeded all expectations as people donated cash, prizes for the raffle and cakes for the cake stall, raising a total of £187.

All students paid £10 to take part, which, coupled with sponsorship, meant that the organisers were able to present Spots’ committee member Elaine Barron-Clark and Agape Food Bank Co-ordinator Irene Davies each with a cheque for the sum of £920.
