Man’s wildlife plan over puddle

A Lutton man says he’s thinking of turning a pool of water on the road outside his home into a wildlife reserve.

John Tolliday says he’s fed up of the poor drainage outside his Puddingpoke Lane home having complained to Lincolnshire County Council about it for a number of years.

“When vehicles come down it splashes all over my lawn,” he said “The children who walk along the road to go to school have to edge around it.

“They did try and put a new drain in, but it was clear to anybody they’d not done it right.

“I’m beginning to think I should be turning it into a nature reserve and getting some ducks on it.”

Lincolnshire County Council had listed the road as scheduled to be closed for five weeks for ‘patching’ work in the fourth quarter of 2022.

A spokesman said: “Previous works have been undertaken to install a drainage grip to help remove surface water.

“A highways officer will re-attend the site as soon as is reasonably practicable to determine what further works are required.”
