A man spat at and headbutted police officers attending reports of a single vehicle collision.
Police called to a single vehicle collision in Hurdletree Bank found Andrew Fraser McDonald (63) of Cranesgate North, Whaplode St Catherinesat on the ground arguing with his wife, a court has heard.
He provided a positive breath test, Boston Magistrates were told, and was ‘aggressive’ towards the police and spat in the face of one of the officers.
The magistrates also heard that McDonald, who admitted two offences of assaulting the police, was banging his head on the police vehicle and had to be handcuffed to restrain him when he headbutted the other officer.
Helen Coney, mitigating, said McDonald had been diagnosed with depression and had a history of self-harm.
She said he had had several upsets including learning he might be made redundant, his holiday with Thomas Cook had been lost and his father was ill.
She said he was still waiting for the blood sample to be returned following his breath test so he might yet face other charges from the collision.
McDonald was fined £400 and ordered to pay £100 compensation to each of the officers and £85 in costs.
