A Spalding man drunkenly assaulted two police offers after recently completing an alcohol abstinence monitoring order, a court has heard.
Tiberiu-Lucian Grozav, 34, of Lancelot Way, admitted the assault when he appeared at
Boston Magistrates Court.
The magistrates heard that at 2am on October 2, two officers were sent to investigate the report of a man
assaulted in the town centre and CCTV images appeared to show that Grozav was responsible, but he ran off when approached by the officers.
However, Grozav turned and punched PC Sam Allen in the face and, when PC Jessica Blackbird grabbed him in a headlock, he knocked her to the floor.
After he was arrested, he told police he had no memory of what had occurred because of the amount of alcohol he had taken.
The court was told Grozav was already subject to a 12 month community order for assault imposed in April after an assault and that he had undergone 90 days of alcohol abstinence monitoring.
Michael Alexander, mitigating, said Grozav took drugs to control epilepsy and it was likely the mix with
alcohol triggered his behaviour.
He said Grozav had ‘an issue’ with alcohol which would take a ‘lot more than a 90 day order’ but said he
had not assaulted the man on the ground which had started the incident.
Grozav was ordered to carry out 15 rehabilitation days and to pay £50 compensation to PC Allen and
£114 in court charges.
