Man arrested on suspicion of arson at Bridge Hotel

A man from Norfolk has been arrested on suspicion of arson after a fire at The Bridge Hotel in Sutton Bridge.

Lincolnshire Police were called to the building at 8.10am on Thursday, June 8 after a report of a break in and fire.

A police spokesman said: “As part of our enquiries the 56-year-old man, from Norfolk, was arrested on suspicion of arson.

“He was also arrested on suspicion of sending a communication threatening death or serious harm; and on suspicion of threatening to damage or destroy property.

“He has been questioned and subsequently bailed with conditions not to enter Lincolnshire.”

Two weeks ago South Holland District Council put out a press releases claiming that the former hotel that’s being renovated into flats was subject to proposals by the Home Office to house asylum seekers.
