Man arrested on firearms charge after armed police attend Spalding property

A man has been arrested on suspicion of possessing a firearm after armed police attended a Spalding property last night (Wednesday), April 15.

One eye-witness told The Voice that shortly after 10pm last night, police descended on Hannam Boulevard.

A 42-year-old man is in custody awaiting questioning.

The witness, who wishes to remain anonymous said armed police and police dogs were among those in attendance.

The witness said: “It was about 10.10pm when I heard the first bangs of something going on outside.

“We were told to get back in the house and stay there for safety.

“I wouldn’t swear to it, but when the door was eventually opened. I thought they said they were arresting his for illegal arms.

“The police stayed around afterwards searching and looked to take a few bags away.”

A spokesman for Lincolnshire Police, said: “A 42-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm.

“He has been arrested and remains in custody and will be questioned in due course.”
