A man faces jail after he admitted setting fire to a Range Rover in Spalding.
Adam Szeliga, 26, of Westlode Street, Spalding, pleaded guilty to the arson which occurred in Pennygate on May 13 last year during a hearing at Lincoln Crown Court.
Szeliga also admitted the theft of a pedal cycle from the Constitutional Club in Spalding on May 12, 2024.
Paul O’Shea, defending Szeliga, asked for sentence to be adjourned.
“This is a step up in his offending and is of a concerning nature,” Mr O’Shea told the court.
“He does not know the individual and he would benefit enormously from a pre-sentence report and a psychiatric report.”
Judge Catarina Sjolin Knight agreed to the request and granted Szeliga bail on condition that he does not contact the owner of the Range Rover or go to Pennygate, Spalding.
“You have pleaded guilty to a serious offence, but the court needs to know more about you and why you did this so I am ordering a psychiatric report and a probation report,” Judge Sjolin Knight said.
“Although I am extending your bail on the same conditions it is not an indication that you are not going to prison. All options are open for sentence.”
Szeliga will be sentenced at Lincoln Crown Court on March 3.
