A man has admitted driving while nearly three times over the drink drive limit with his ten-year-old daughter in the car, a court has heard.
Stuart Davies (43), of Princes Street, Sutton Bridge, admitted driving above the alcohol limit in the car park of the town’s Co-Op on May 31
Boston Magistrates’ Court was told Davies had collided with another car.
He was found to have 101 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35 microgrammes.
The court heard Davies didn’t realise he was over the limit at the time but now realised he’d made a ‘big mistake’.
He’d previously drunk regularly, particularly due to suffering from sciatica and arthritis, but hadn’t since the incident.
District judge Daniel Church said: “The fact you felt OK to drive when three times over the limit speaks volumes of how much drinking you were doing at the time of the incident.
“There was a collision but thankfully no-one was seriously injured.”
Davies was disqualified from driving for 24 months to be reduced by 24 weeks on the successful completion of a drink driving awareness course while a 12-month community order was made to attend ten0 days of appointments with a responsible officer.
He was also fined £120, ordered to pay a £154 victim surcharge and £85 costs.
