Man accused of defrauding headstone customers fails to show at court

A judge has issued a warrant for the arrest of a Spalding man who is accused of defrauding customers by failing to supply orders of memorial headstones.

Judge Simon Hirst granted a prosecution application for the arrest of Julian Karl Gaunt after he failed to attend a pre-trial hearing at Lincoln Crown Court.

Gaunt, 40, of Queens Road, Spalding, is accused of defrauding nine customers of JG Select Memorials and is due to stand trial at Lincoln Crown Court in April next year.

The trial is expected to last several days with 24 witnesses required.

Judge Hirst adjourned the case until October 12.
