Man accused of causing £46,000 of damage to level crossing after stealing car

A 26 year old man has been sent for trial at Lincoln Crown Court for stealing a Renault Megane car and crashing it into Park Road level crossing in Spalding resulting in more than £46,000 worth of damage.

Tudorel-Drinel Carmocanu of Holbeach Road, Spalding entered no pleas to aggravated vehicle taking and criminal damage as well as driving without insurance or a driving licence following the incident on October 26 last year.

Deputy District Judge Ray Allen-Khirmani ruled the amount of the damage meant it was not suitable for trial in a magistrates court and he was sent for trial at Lincoln Crown Court for a first appearance on June 30 and was granted unconditional bail.
