Make the most of spring down on Sacrewell Farm

It’s all going on down at the farm this weekend as Sacrewell Farm celebrates Easter.

As well as taking a bumpy tractor ride up to the Enchanted Wood for an Easter egg hunt with a farmyard twist, there’s still time to feed some of the baby lambs who have made an appearance this spring.

As well as the chance to see the newborns – you may even see one being born – you can also visit the rare-breed Lincoln Longwool and Jacob sheep in the maternity unit and watch one of the orphaned lambs being hand-fed as a member of the ranger team talks about how to raise and care for them.

The farm is also expecting a litter of British Lop piglets and chicks are hatching everywhere.

Sacrewell is also teeming with wildlife at this time of the year as the migratory birds return and nest building begins, but if fur and feathers are not really your thing, there’s still plenty to do at Sacrewell, such as the Mill House and Watermill, the Old Bakery and maze and play area.

And if you need a break from all that excitement, why not relax and have a bite to it in the cafe or a browse around the Three Little Ducks Food and Gift Shop, which stocks a wide variety of gifts, toys and local produce, such as locally-reared meat and fresh bread?

The lambing events and Easter attractions are available daily until April 27, so even if you can’t make it this weekend there’s still time to enjoy the fun before the kids go back to school.

Sacrewell Farm and Country Centre, situated off the A47 Peterborough to Leicester road, is marking its 50th anniversary in 2014 and the year is made even more special as it celebrates the start of a new £1.7million Watermill Project which will be completed by summer 2015.
