The chance to make a man beardless and bald for Christmas is here as he has pledged to go “complete egg” for a Spalding charity.
Sam Fowler (27) has spent 2019 growing his beard.
“People that know me know how attached I’ve become to it, despite numerous comments to get it shaved off,” he said.
He said things “recently escalated” when a customer at work offered him £20 to get rid of it.
Things then “snowballed” and Sam decided to fundraise with the shave for The Lighthouse Project in Spalding.
“They’re a wonderful local charity helping young people who have become lost and disconnected from their family, society and local community,” Sam said.
Fundraising efforts and hair stakes have escalated further, however, since he decided to up the ante, pledging to have his head too if donations beat the £400 target, becoming “a complete egg”.
“I’m feeling good about it as it’s a bit of fun and for a good cause, although I’d be lying if I didn’t say I was a little nervous that we might hit the £400 target and I lose my hair too.
“I picked the worst time of year to do it too, I might have to get a new hat and scarf just in case.
“But joking aside, part of me does hope we hit the goal as it will mean we’ve helped out way more than I thought when this all started.”
If making a man bald isn’t incentive enough, his grandmother’s face is something else to consider.
He said: “Although very supportive, I know my grandma is dreading the thought of me being bald for Christmas so just to see her face will make it feel even more worth it if we do hit the goal.”
The big shave will take place on Tuesday, December 10, at Sam’s workplace, Ladbrokes in Sheep Market.
