Main Road venue proves to be Taylor-made for Tydd Gote Angling Club’s John

John Taylor has been on fine form on the North Level at Main Road – and he made no mistake at the Tydd Gote Angling Club Sunday Club match with 13lb 4oz.

He was on peg 32 and found a huge bream of 6lb 12oz on feeder and worm before adding some nice roach and skimmers to pinkie over groundbait for a clear win.

Archie Greenwood took the runners-up spot with a lovely net of silvers for 7lb 8oz from peg 28 to pinkie over groundbait just in front of Grzegorz Chalat with 7lb 4oz.

Chalat was on end peg 35 and, although he didn’t find any bream, had a fine net of roach and skimmers to pinkie and maggot fished at 6m for his third place.

Andrew Kilby on peg 34 was fourth with a level 7lb of silvers.
Martyn Thomas, on peg 29, had the only other bream, another fine specimen of well over 5lb that took his worm hookbait first cast.

However, Thomas only had one other bite all day, a perch, that gave him a 5lb 13oz total for fifth spot.

  • Tom Gotobed netted first place at Holbeach and District Angling Club’s weekly match on Sunday.

On peg 15 of the Main Holland section, he managed 6lb 14 1/2oz of small bream, eels and a few small silvers.

TOP CATCH: Tom Gotobed shows off his winning net.

Chris Newton (peg two) was second with a 4lb 4.5oz of small silvers with the odd bigger fish, while Gary Boxhall (3lb 14oz) of silvers.
